Web Observatory @ IIIT-B

Web Observatory is a world-wide network of application programs that collect and curate data about the web for different forms of analysis. IIIT-B is one of the first web observatory nodes from India to join this global network. The focus of the IIIT-B web observatory is on “social cognition”. This involves observation of social media posts from across the world, to characterize the broad narratives and opinion streams that are emerging, on different topics. The observatory aims to create a data model to analyze social cognition based on different factors – including time, location, affiliation, etc.
Project deliverable include
Short term:
Design and prototyping of the IIIT-B web observatory portal
Medium term :
Development of essential concepts and models for characterizing online social cognition
Long term :
Hosting an interactive web observatory portal providing several forms of real-time analysis and reasoning support for online social cognition.
