Accessibility of Public Transport
Project Principal Investigator(s): Ms Navitha, PI: Prof Sachit Rao
Urban mobility involves the movement of people and goods through different modes of transport, both public and private. With the increase in size and population of cities, the number of vehicles on the road increases. Increase in the adoption of public transport is one of the ways to tackle issues resulting from the increase in number of vehicles, such as increased travel time and high pollution levels. This project looks at accessibility of public transport across the city. It analyzes the road network of a city at a ward level. It identifies existing routes along this network with evidence of public transport, and identify points of public transport connectivity between adjacent wards. Using this information, it intends to identify potential alternative routes to improve inter-ward connectivity.
